Vinted Members Voice Anger Over Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
